Starting from Mayfield, due to proximity to the New England highway (convenient for anyone travelling into town)

80km/h cruise into town, sweeping corners, quality road.

Turn off Industrial drive onto Honeysuckle drive for a slow but scenic cruise around the Newcastle foreshore.

Turn left to go through the park. A one way road with some good corners. But watch the speed humps.

Bar beach on your left. Stop here to stretch your legs if you need to and enjoy the view.

Turning left at Frederick St will take you up the main road of Merewether on drop you onto the start of scenic drive.

Scenic Drive is a wonderful hill climb with some great corners and excellent quality surface.

Turning left onto the Highway, but only for a short amount of time.

Turning off the brief highway section for a detour through Newcastle's southern coastal towns.

Left onto Burwood road takes you down past the Glenrock reserve and through some wonderful bushland areas and coastal towns.

Heading south on the highway, a bit dull, but it is the only road this side of the lake which crosses the Swansea channel

Hop off and stretch your legs, Caves beach is an excellent spot to stop for a rest or a picnic.

Enjoy the scenery

Head left towards the lake for some of the best road on this lap.

Enjoy the lake views, the next 10km is a very relaxed lake side ride.

We chose to go along the link road on our ride. This is the only 90km/h zone on the ride. It's also a bit boring for the next 5 mins.

Turn right at the lights, or you will end up on the M1 motorway. This road will take you to Minmi.

Stop here at the pub for an excellent feed.

Heading straight will take you back to Beresfield/ New England highway via the M1. A quick way home if you started from that direction.
Turning right takes you back towards Newcastle.

Heading towards the Uni, this is the most direct way back to Mayfield without touching Newcastle road.
