The way points of this motorcycle route:
Maurie's ride to Nagambie. 15 bikes, wet weather gear for potentially damp conditions.
Head straight up the Melba Hwy. to Yarra Glen.
Past Yarra Glen to the old Healsville Rd.
As we head towards the Toolangi forest, we see showers draping the hills ahead.
Maurie says "don't let me hold you up". Some of us go on ahead in the drizzle to see how fast you need to go so that you don't get wet. It didn't work. We got wet. But it was fun. Some people turn back to warmer environs.
We stop in Broadford for morning tea and a pit stop. Our fearless ride leader asks who wants to take the short way to Nagambie. There are no takers, so we go the long way via Heathcote. The drizzle clears and we see some sun for the first time.
Nice road here to give the bike an "Italian tune-up". (That means burning the gunk out)
Great and cheap lunch (seniors' special) at the hotel overlooking the lake. Huge wind blowing whitecaps: and we're eating outside. Anyway, a good time was had by all. Some took the twisty roads home and others just cruised down the highway back to Melbourne.
